
In 1998, DataPlus® founders, David S. White and Frank Trew, were struggling to manage the data of their large orthopaedic group in Nashville, Tennessee. Their physicians were demanding reports and information from their practice management system that was simply too hard to get or not available at all. They also felt certain that their contracted payors were underpaying them… but they did not have the tools to prove it.
These healthcare veterans knew that these problems were not unique to their practice management system, but were also common to other systems. They determined to find a solution for their practice using the system they had. Their answer was DataPlus®.DataPlus® was the key that these practice managers created to unlock the information and reports they had to have to make their practice successful – not with the idea of commercial sale.
By the next year, this newly designed data warehouse – DataPlus® – was being used with such success that other practice administrators wanted – and needed it – to manage their own practices. After much consideration, they formed a separate company – Premier DataPlus, LLC®. Since then, a dedicated staff has been developing, marketing, and supporting DataPlus® for users of MegaWest, HealthPort, and GE Centricity systems nationwide.The DataPlus® mantra evolved from David frequently asking Frank for specific reports, to which Frank would respond, “It’s your data – you can get whatever you want! Ask a question, get your answer!”
Now, David White, Frank Trew, and several physicians from their orthopaedic group are partners in DataPlus. David, CEO of Premier Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, remains a DataPlus client. Frank, as DataPlus COO, oversees development and day-to-day operations.
